The Whitechapel Pyjamas have a boxy style shirt with a button front, the trousers are roomy with a slightly tapered leg and an elasticated waist. We provide full instructions for stitching them up with fancy french seams for a comfortable and professional finish - but don’t worry there aren’t too many of them!
A generous fit, with room to curl up.
The pattern is designed with long sleeves and ankle length trousers but why not crop the leg and sleeve lengths to create a breezy summer pair.
The trousers couldn’t be easier - just 3 seams and some elastic. The top is an easy introduction to french seams, flat construction sleeve insertion and a simple collar. You’ll also need to make some buttonholes. Start with the trousers if you’re a complete beginner and wear them with a t-shirt while you complete the shirt!
Classic crisp cotton shirting in stripes or checks, a bold and audacious print on cotton sateen, soft brushed cotton, a snazzy paisley silk - the list goes on and on...You'll want several pairs of these, some for sleeping and some for partying!
You will need 2.6m/3 yards of 140cm/56" wide fabric.
Lightweight interfacing (x2 strips 60cmx10cm/24"x4" + 1 piece 50cmx20cm/20"x8" for the collar), 3cm/11/4" wide elastic (enough to go around your waist with a couple cm overlap, x5 buttons (+ 1 for spare!)
