STASH-BUSTER TROUSER-ALONG: Saturday 16th January, 10am-12.30pm UK TIME

Regular price £20.00

Date: Saturday 16th January

Time: 10am-12.30pm UK time

Duration: 2.5 hours

We invite you to join us for our online pattern-cutting class: ‘The Stash-buster Trouser-Along’. In 2.5 hours learn to draft and sew your very own pair of trousers to fit your own personal measurements! The Stash-buster Trousers are the epitome of casual chic, as well as being a great way to use up any odd scraps of jersey. The design cleverly combines woven fabric panels for the front and back trouser pieces, joined with a jersey side strip. They are finished at the top with a stretchy fold-over waistband that you can customise to sit just where you like it. Alternatively you can make them up in all jersey fabric. Think of them as posh tracksuit bottoms you could wear to the office or feel smart in when working from home - these trousers definitely fall into the secret pyjamas category.

With minimal maths and measurements we will walk you through step-by-step how to draft and sew your very own trousers from scratch. Along the way we’ll be sharing lots of top tips about trouser fitting and styles as well some ideas of how to make them up. If you want to complete your self-drafted Scrapbuster wardrobe check out our Stash-buster T-Shirt, Skirt and jumpsuit classes too!

The class will take place as a video meeting via Zoom so you can interact and ask questions along the way. Places are limited to make it as much like an in-person class as possible. 25% of the profits from this class will go to Together We Talk.

If you want to complete your self-drafted Stash-buster wardrobe check out our other online classes too!

 What you will need

- Some large pieces of paper – pattern cutting paper if you have it but otherwise newspaper will be fine (preferably a broadsheet). A roll of brown paper or even wrapping paper brown is also a good option. Otherwise just tape together whatever you can find!
- A tape measure (we draft in metric , so you’re more used to inches, a dual tape-measure will be handy - or we can help you to convert along the way)
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Sticky tape
- Paper scissors

*please note we will not sew up the garment during the class so you do not need to have fabric/sewing machine already in order to take the class. We will go through a variety of making up and finishing options in the class and you will receive all of this information as a pdf download to make up the garment in your own time.

- Fabric – pre-washed or well-pressed under a steam iron to sort out any shrinkage. These trousers are designed to combine a woven fabric for the main trouser pieces with jersey for the side panel and waistband. Alternatively you can cut the trousers in jersey for a more relaxed look. You will need approx 110cm (sizes 6-18) or 150cm (sizes 18+) fabric for the main front and back trouser panels plus 60cm of jersey for the side strips and waistband or some long scraps.
- Thread
- Sewing machine – or go slow and stitch it by hand!
- Fabric scissors

1x Pattern Instructions
3x Patterns in A0, A4 and US Letter sizes

*Please make sure you read the following instructions carefully before printing!*

For A4/US Letter: it is vital to make sure your pattern prints at full scale or the sizing will not be correct. Your print settings should be set to 'full scale', '100%', 'actual size' or equivalent according to your printer software.

There are two test squares on the first page of every pattern: a 5cm and a 2" square.

Print only this page first and check your square measures up, before printing the rest of the pattern.

For A0 copy shop: follow the instructions given by your chosen copy shop.
