Regular price $97.00

Date: Saturday 25th November 2023

Time: 2pm-6pm UK TIME

Duration: 4 hours

Location: online via Zoom!

This 4-hour masterclass will give you all the knowledge and confidence you need to design and draft a variety of jacket styles.

Making your own self-drafted jacket is one of the most satisfying sewing projects you can do - and not nearly as difficult as you might think! This class will take you step-by-step from block/sloper to finished pattern and will give you the knowledge to make many styles. From boxy workwear jackets to classic blazers to closely-fitted vintage inspired designs - the world will be your jacket-making oyster!

We'll provide you with a base bodice block (sizes UK 6-26) to use as the starting point of your design.

Take this class as a stand-alone session or as part 3 in our pattern drafting masterclass collection 'THE WINTER WARDROBE SERIES' - where we will teach you how to design and draft your own perfectly-fitting trousers, jumpsuits and jackets.

Click here to purchase our Winter Wardrobe Bundle and join all four classes.

The class will cover fit, design, finishes and fabrics:

FIT
We will cover how to adapt the bodice block to achieve different silhouettes and which ones to pick for you/your design.

DESIGN
Once you have drafted the core body shape of the jacket, we'll show you how to get creative with endless variations of collars, sleeves, pockets and details.

FINISHES
We'll discuss facings and interfacing. linings and interling, whether to hand finsh or bag out. Plus shoulder pads, trims, buttons and button holes - eveything you need to make your jacket unique.

FABRICS
The fabric you choose can change the cut and feel of a jacket to a surprising degree - we’ll discuss how to choose appropriate fabric and lining methods for your desired design.

Please note this is primarily a pattern drafting class rather than a sewing class, however we will discuss and demonstrate a range of making up and finishing techniques.

HOW THE CLASS WORKS

The class will take place as a live video meeting via Zoom so you can interact and ask questions along the way.

Once you sign up you will receive a download which includes all the details of how to join our course platform where you can access the private class community and download everything you need for the class.

On the morning of the class you will receive a direct link to join via Zoom. Please note that you will need to be subscribed up to our newsletter in order to receive emails from us (there is a checkbox when you sign up for the class)

The class will be recorded and hosted in our own private online community (not facebook!), so you can go over it in your own time, and continue to ask questions after the live session. The recording will be available to you forever.

THE BLOCK/SLOPER
The bodice block we will provide you with is based on the Telestia system we always use for our patterns to ensure a good fit for most figures. The size range is UK 6 to 26.

The block will be downloadable as a pdf in paper sizes A4, US letter and A0.

This block will form the basis for the jacket styles we will draft in the class and will also be invaluable for future designs.

How to download your Alice & Co Pattern

Alice & Co patterns are provided in three different page formats and are designed to be printed in colour.

Once you have purchased your pattern you will be given a download link. This will also be emailed to you so don't worry if you don't want to download it straight away!

The download will consist of a zip file containing 4 separate PDF files:

1x Pattern Instructions
3x Patterns in A0, A4 and US Letter sizes

*Please make sure you read the following instructions carefully before printing!*

For A4/US Letter: it is vital to make sure your pattern prints at full scale or the sizing will not be correct. Your print settings should be set to 'full scale', '100%', 'actual size' or equivalent according to your printer software.

There are two test squares on the first page of every pattern: a 5cm and a 2" square.

Print only this page first and check your square measures up, before printing the rest of the pattern.

For A0 copy shop: follow the instructions given by your chosen copy shop. Services are also available online - we recommend Patternsy - who print on lightweight tissue paper with very speedy delivery to anywhere in the world! Once you have purchased your pattern from us, simply click on the link above to go to their website and follow the steps to upload your pattern.

Comment télécharger votre patron Alice & Co Pattern
