Regular price £30.00

Date: Saturday 20th February

Time: 3pm-6.30pm UK time

Duration: 3.5 hours

We invite you to join us for our online pattern-cutting class: ‘The Stash-buster Jumpsuit-Along’. In 3.5 hours learn to draft and sew your very own jumpsuit from scratch, based on your own personal measurements! The stash-buster jumpsuit is a modern relaxed fit design with grown-on sleeves, a zip or button up centre-front fastening and optional waistband casing for bringing in the waist. The class will take you through step-by-step how to draft this design, followed by a photo-tutorial of how to make it up. Along the way we will also show you the how you can alter the pattern to create many different variations, such as lengthening or shortening the sleeves, chopping off the legs for a culottes or shorts version, adding pockets to your hearts content, and customising to fit different body shapes. You will leave the class armed with all the knowledge you need to create a whole wardrobe of jumpsuit designs for every occasion, as well as lots of useful pattern-cutting and sewing tips.

If you want to complete your self-drafted wardobe click here to check out our other classes

The class will take place as a video meeting via Zoom so you can interact and ask questions along the way. Places are limited to make it as much like an in-person class as possible. 25% of the profits from this class will go to Mind.

What you will need

- Some large pieces of paper – pattern cutting paper if you have it but otherwise newspaper will be fine (preferably a broadsheet). A roll of brown paper or even wrapping paper brown is also a good option. Otherwise just tape together whatever you can find!
- A tape measure (we draft in metric , so you’re more used to inches, a dual tape-measure will be handy - or we can help you to convert along the way)
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Sticky tape
- Paper scissors

*please note we will not sew up the garment during the class so you do not need to have fabric/sewing machine already in order to take the class. We will go through a variety of making up and finishing options in the class and you will receive all of this information as a pdf download to make up the garment in your own time.

- Fabric – pre-washed or well-pressed under a steam iron to sort out any shrinkage. Any medium weight cotton or linen will be perfect, such as chambray or shirting. For a drapey version a silk, silk-mix, viscose, tencel or wool or polyester crepe would work well. Or for a more work-wear silhouette you can use a cotton drill or denim. Or why not try out some colour blocking and/or pattern mixing in the true spirit of stash-busting.  If you like to toile first an old duvet cover or sheet would be perfect.
- Thread
- Sewing machine – or go slow and stitch it by hand!
- Fabric scissors

1x Pattern Instructions
3x Patterns in A0, A4 and US Letter sizes

*Please make sure you read the following instructions carefully before printing!*

For A4/US Letter: it is vital to make sure your pattern prints at full scale or the sizing will not be correct. Your print settings should be set to 'full scale', '100%', 'actual size' or equivalent according to your printer software.

There are two test squares on the first page of every pattern: a 5cm and a 2" square.

Print only this page first and check your square measures up, before printing the rest of the pattern.

For A0 copy shop: follow the instructions given by your chosen copy shop. Services are also available online - we recommend Patternsy - who print on lightweight tissue paper with very speedy delivery to anywhere in the world!
